The White Freckle Tang, also known as the Spotted-face Surgeonfish, is a rare and striking species reaching a Max Size of 40 cm. It has a sleek, dark grey body with fine horizontal lines and a characteristic yellow-orange band behind the eye. Its most defining feature is the constellation of fine white spots (freckles) covering its head. It is a powerful swimmer that requires high water flow and a large amount of open space. Like many Acanthurus species, it is sensitive to water quality and requires a highly oxygenated environment with plenty of marine algae to graze on.
