Also frequently known as the Camel Shrimp, the Hingebeak Shrimp is famous for its intricate, bright red and white striped patterning and a unique, upward-curved rostrum that can move independently on a "hinge." These highly active shrimp gather in groups under rocky overhangs, emerging to forage across the tank floor for detritus and meaty scraps. While excellent scavengers, care should be taken in dedicated reef tanks, as a hungry Hingebeak may occasionally nip at soft corals, zoanthids, and colonial anemones.
