The Purple Queen Anthias is an exquisitely beautiful and highly sought-after marine species, celebrated for its intense, neon-violet coloration. This species displays beautiful sexual dimorphism: males feature a striking yellow patch on the throat and a distinct red spot on the rear of their dorsal fin, while females showcase a brilliant yellow stripe running along the upper ridge of their back and tail. Originating from large schools along high-flow reef crests and drop-offs, these delicate anthias are active open-water swimmers that thrive best when kept in small shoals. Because of their continuous activity and specialized planktonic diet, they require a mature system with pristine water quality and multiple daily feedings to flourish.
