Product overview
The Yellowtail Damselfish (Chrysiptera parasema) is a hardy, colourful marine fish. Its electric blue body and bright yellow tail bring constant movement and colour to a reef or fish-only tank.
Native to the coral-rich waters of the Western Pacific, it darts among rockwork, crevices and branching corals.
Temperament and tankmates
It's milder than most damselfish, especially with enough swimming space and rockwork to set up territories.
- Generally peaceful with different-looking tankmates.
- Can be territorial towards its own kind or similar-shaped fish, especially in smaller tanks.
- Best added as one of the last fish in an established tank.
Diet
An unfussy omnivore with a big appetite. Feed a varied diet of quality marine pellets and flakes, plus frozen foods such as mysis, brine shrimp and finely chopped seafood.
Water and system compatibility
Marine/reef aquariums only. Reef safe: it won't nip corals or sessile invertebrates.
