The Tassled Filefish is one of the most bizarre and fascinating looking fish in the ocean. Its tan-to-grey body is covered in a network of dark lines and intricate, weed-like "tassels" or skin flaps that break up its silhouette, making it look like a piece of drifting debris or algae. It has a large, stocky body compared to other filefish and a slow, hovering swimming style. While they are peaceful and slow-moving, they are opportunistic predators that will eat small fish, shrimp, and almost any type of coral. Their unique appearance makes them a fantastic "oddball" choice for a dedicated species tank or a large, aggressive community tank where they won't be picked on by faster-moving fish.
