The Stars and Stripes Puffer is a massive and impressive species named for its dual pattern: white spots (stars) on the upper half and horizontal white lines (stripes) on the belly. The base colour is typically an olive-to-greyish brown. This is a very large-growing puffer that requires a significant amount of swimming space and exceptionally strong filtration. They have a very laid-back personality and can coexist with other large, semi-aggressive fish like triggers and large angels. Like its relatives, it uses its powerful beak to crush shells and will decimate any snail or crab population in the aquarium. They are often kept as the centerpiece of a large predatory display due to their size and interactive nature.
