Silver Angelfish / Common Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)

Overview

The Silver Angelfish is the iconic, wild-type classic from which all modern aquarium strains descend. Boasting a striking, vertically compressed diamond body shape with exceptionally long, flowing fins, they feature a shimmering metallic-silver background broken up by four bold, velvety-black vertical stripes. These stripes naturally darken or fade depending on the fish's mood and stress levels. They are highly intelligent, personable fish that quickly learn to recognize their owners at feeding time. They make a spectacular, elegant centerpiece group for large, tall display aquariums.
