Product overview

The Salifert Calcium Profi Test Kit measures calcium so you can catch drops before skeletal growth stops, tissue stalls, or colour fades. Calcification and coralline growth pull calcium from the water; without a precise test, that decline is easy to miss.

It uses liquid titrants and a powder reagent, and is designed so magnesium does not skew the result. Testing is done in a vial, not in the tank.

Testing and instructions

Always follow dosage & directions on product packaging.

Typical marine target is 415–450 ppm. How often to test:

  • New tank / rock maturation: Weekly, to check salt mix and curing rock.
  • Mixed reef / moderate load: Every 7–14 days, then adjust buffering or traces.
  • High-demand SPS: Every 3–5 days, to track uptake from calcification.
  • Ultra-low nutrient (ULNS): Test often so parameters stay in range under strong lighting (sudden drops can trigger precipitation).

Storage

  • Caps: Seal bottles as soon as you finish. Evaporation or moisture in the reagents skews the titration.
  • Box: Cool, dry cupboard out of direct sunlight. Do not freeze or overheat the reagents.
  • Vial: Rinse with RO/DI water and dry with a clean tissue so leftover reagent does not contaminate the next test.
