The Ruby Red Dragonet is a fairly recent discovery that has taken the hobby by storm due to its intense, solid red coloration. The body is a brilliant ruby red, often accented with white-to-yellow spots and black markings on the fins. Males possess an incredibly large and ornate dorsal fin that they flare to attract females or ward off rivals. Like mandarins, they are constant hunters of live micro-crustaceans and have a very high metabolism. They are slightly smaller and more delicate than other dragonets, so ensuring a constant food supply is the biggest challenge in keeping them healthy and vibrant.
