The Red Sea ReefMat 500 is a fully automated, smart fleece roller filter engineered for medium-sized marine reef aquariums. It serves as a high-efficiency replacement for traditional filter socks, mechanically pulling solid waste, uneaten food, and detritus out of the water column before it can rot and compromise your water chemistry.
The unit operates via an internal solid-state water level sensor and an intelligent DC drive motor. As the non-woven polyester fleece traps particles, it slowly clogs, causing the water level inside the filter chassis to rise. Once the water hits the sensor, the motor triggers, automatically winding up the dirty fleece onto a spent core and exposing a brand-new, clean section of the mat.
