Overview
The Red Rainbowfish is an absolute staple of the Australian aquarium hobby and one of the most popular centerpiece fish available. While juveniles appear a humble, unassuming silver-grey in a bare pet shop tank, fully mature males transform into a jaw-dropping, solid fiery-red from head to tail. They develop a remarkably deep-bodied, high-backed silhouette that gives them an incredibly powerful, majestic presence as they swim. They are highly active, robust, and exceptionally hardy open-water schoolers. Keeping them in groups of 5 or more under quality lighting will bring out their intense crimson colors, making them an unbeatable choice to add instant energy and warmth to any large community aquarium.
