The Purple Firefish is a more vibrant and sought-after relative of the standard Firefish, boasting a deep purple-to-maroon head and fins. Its body is a pearlescent white that fades into grey and deep fuchsia toward the tail. The fins are elegantly outlined in black and red. Like its cousins, it possesses the signature flickering dorsal spine and a slender, streamlined body designed for quick retreats. They are generally hardier than other firefish species but share the same shy temperament. They are best kept in a quiet aquarium with plenty of live rock and should only be kept with their own species if they are a mated pair.
