Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus sp.)

The Pistol Shrimp is an architectural genius of the marine sand bed, famous for its ability to produce a loud, snapping sound by rapidly closing its modified claw to stun micro-prey. While fascinating on its own, its true magic shines when paired with a Watchman Goby; the two form a legendary symbiotic relationship where the shrimp acts as a tireless bulldozer maintaining a shared burrow, while the keen-eyed goby acts as a sentry. This captivating partnership provides endless entertainment and natural substrate turning for your aquarium.
