The Peacock Puffer, often referred to as the False Eye or Ocellated Puffer, is a fascinating dwarf puffer celebrated for its intricate maze-like body patterns and dark eye spot (ocellus) near the dorsal fin. Displaying expressive eyes that move independently, this small carnivore exhibits a surprisingly intelligent and inquisitive nature toward its keeper. They require an aquarium rich in rockwork, caves, and overhangs to explore during the day. Because they lack standard teeth and instead possess a fused beak, their diet must include hard-shelled invertebrates like snails and uncracked shellfish to naturally wear down their beak growth.
