The Mata Tang, or Elongate Surgeonfish, is a large and fast-moving species reaching a Max Size of 50 cm. It features a beautiful, shimmering silvery-blue body covered in thousands of fine horizontal brown lines. A distinctive yellow-orange band runs through its eye. They are primarily planktivorous but will graze on algae as well. Because of their immense size and high-speed swimming habits, they are only suitable for very large, public-style aquaria where they have room to school and roam. They are generally peaceful but can be boisterous during feeding times.
