The Longnose Butterflyfish is a master of precision, possessing an extremely long, bird-like snout designed to pluck tiny prey from deep within the reef's crevices. It features a brilliant, solid yellow body, a bicolored head (black on top, silver-white on bottom), and a small black spot on its anal fin to mimic an eye. While it looks similar to the Copperband, it is generally much hardier and more willing to accept aquarium foods. It is a graceful and peaceful swimmer that adds a unique anatomical interest to the tank. While generally safe with most corals, it may occasionally nip at tubeworms or small polyps if hungry.
