The Lavender Tang is an understated yet elegant surgeonfish featuring a soft greyish-lavender to muted silver body highlighted by orange-brown spots around the head and vivid yellow highlights along its dorsal and anal fins. Known for its pleasant disposition compared to many other Acanthurus species, this active swimmer adapts remarkably well to captive reef environments. They are eager grazers that help keep filamentous algae under control while adding constant, graceful motion to the middle water column. Plenty of open swimming space and high oxygenation are essential for their health.
