Hockey Stick Tetra (Thayeria boehlkei)

Overview

The Penguin Tetra is a quirky, eye-catching oddball in the tetra family. Instantly recognizable by the way they swim, they cruise around the tank at a distinct upward 45-degree angle. They feature a crisp, solid black stripe running down the entire length of their silvery body, which sharply hooks downward into the lower lobe of their tail fin—giving them their popular alternative name, the "Hockey Stick" Tetra. They are fantastic for adding unique movement, structural contrast, and vertical dynamic to a standard community layout.
