Also known as the Addis Butterflyfish, the Golden Butterflyfish is a regal species characterized by its brilliant, solid yellow body covered in fine, vertical reddish-orange lines. The most striking feature is the dark blue-grey "mask" that covers the eye area, providing a sharp contrast against its sunny complexion. Native to the Red Sea, these fish are often found in pairs or small groups among coral heads. In a home setting, they are relatively hardy for butterflyfish but require significant swimming space and high water quality. They are active grazers that will investigate rockwork for small invertebrates and coral polyps.
