The Striped Fangtooth Blenny is a sleek and sophisticated species with a bold pattern of horizontal black and cream-to-yellow stripes that break into a delicate spotted pattern near the tail. This blenny is a "mimic" species, possessing venomous canine teeth used strictly for defense—a trait that most predators in the reef know to avoid. In the home aquarium, they are quite bold and spend much of their time swimming in the open water column rather than hiding. They are generally peaceful toward tankmates but are hardy enough to hold their own. Their streamlined shape and constant motion make them a dynamic addition to a reef setup.
