Emperor Tetra (Nematobrycon palmeri)

Overview

True to its name, the Emperor Tetra brings a majestic, upscale presence to the aquarium. They feature an elegant, shimmering blue-gray body divided by a wide, solid black stripe running down to a uniquely shaped, three-pronged "trident" tail fin. Under quality lighting, they display a gorgeous rainbow reflective sheen. They are relatively large and peaceful, though dominant males will occasionally engage in harmless, beautiful fin-flaring standoffs to establish territory, providing great entertainment for hobbyists.
