The Ember Blenny is a striking and somewhat rare find, named for the glowing red-to-orange honeycomb pattern that decorates its dark, charcoal-colored face. This "glowing" effect is most intense around the head and dorsal area, making it look as though the fish is lit from within like a hot coal. It has a stocky, muscular build and a rounded snout typical of the Cirripectes genus. In the aquarium, they are bold and active, often claiming a specific rocky overhang as their own. While primarily an algae eater, they are opportunistic and will readily accept high-quality prepared foods. They are best suited for established tanks with plenty of mature rockwork to graze on.
