The Checkerboard Wrasse is a striking and hardworking species named for the distinct grid-like pattern across its body. As they mature, their colors become more intense, often showing shades of green, blue, and pink around the face. They are excellent for keeping sand beds clean and controlling pest populations, but they do require a large aquarium and a deep sand bed. This wrasse is constantly on the move and adds a great deal of energy to the tank.
