Universally famous, the Blue Tang (also known as the Hippo or Palette Tang) reaches a Max Size of 30 cm. It features a vibrant royal blue body with a distinctive black "palette" shape on its side and a bright yellow tail. Unlike most tangs that graze on rocks, this species is a planktivore, spending much of its time in the water column. They are known for their unusual habit of "playing dead" or wedging themselves into tight coral branches to sleep. They are very susceptible to skin parasites (Ich), so high water quality and a stress-free environment are critical for their long-term health.
