The Blue Jaw (or Blue Throat) Triggerfish is the gold standard for reef-safe triggers, reaching a Max Size of 23 cm. Males are easily distinguished by a bright blue "throat" patch and yellow-trimmed fins, while females are more subtle grey with white spots. Because they are pelagic (open water) feeders, they rarely bother corals or sessile invertebrates. They are relatively shy for triggers and require plenty of rockwork to retreat into when stressed. They are best kept in male-female pairs in large systems.
