The Blue Face Tilefish is a sleek, open-water species with a stunning sky-blue face that transitions into a clean white or silvery body, ending in a bright yellow tail. They are active, high-energy swimmers that originate from deep reef slopes. In the aquarium, they are famous for two things: being extremely skittish and being incredible jumpers. They require a very large tank with plenty of open swimming room and a deep sand bed, as they often dig burrows under rocks to sleep in. They are peaceful and social, often doing best in pairs, but they must be kept in a low-stress environment with a very secure, weighted lid.
