Black Widow (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi)

The Black Skirt Tetra (also widely known in Australia as the Black Widow Tetra) is a distinct, deep-bodied fish characterized by its unique tall silhouette and a dark, smoky-black "skirt" extending across its rear fins. They are incredibly robust, fast-moving, and easy to feed, making them excellent choices for cyclical tank maturation or beginner setups. Because they are highly active and can sometimes exhibit nipping behavior if kept in isolation, they must be kept in a school of 6 or more to ensure they focus their energy on one another rather than slow-moving tank mates.
