Astrea Snail (Astraea tecta)

The Astrea Snail is a classic, highly efficient herbivore that features a beautiful, star-like pyramidal shell with distinct ridged whorls. These tireless workers are fantastic at keeping aquarium glass, pumps, and live rock meticulously clean by targeting film algae, hair algae, and green cyanobacteria. Because Astrea snails lack the physical ability to flip themselves over if they fall upside down on flat sand, they are best suited for aquariums with plenty of live rock surfaces where they can safely grip and graze.
