Product overview
Aquasonic Formalin Malachite Solution is an Australian treatment for external protozoa and fungus on ornamental freshwater fish. It contains formaldehyde (formalin) and malachite green, and it is copper-free.
It is used for white spot (ich), velvet, Costia, Trichodina, Chilodonella, cloudy or slimy skin, and fungal growth.
Do not use with shrimp, snails, crabs, clams, corals, or other invertebrates, or in reef tanks. Formalin lowers dissolved oxygen, so keep aeration strong for the whole treatment. Malachite green stains skin, clothing, floors, and silicone. For ornamental fish only. Do not use on fish intended for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children.

Directions
- Remove shrimp, snails, crabs, clams, and other invertebrates.
- Remove activated carbon and chemical filter resins. Turn off UV sterilisers and ozone. Keep aeration strong.
- Add 5 mL per 20 litres once a day for 4 days.
- Loaches and other scaleless fish, tetras, and fry: use a lower dose, or treat in a quarantine tank and watch them.
- You can raise the temperature by 2°C to 3°C during treatment so more of the parasite is free-swimming.
- On day 5, change 50% of the water, then add fresh activated carbon. The water may have a green tint until the carbon clears it.
Always follow directions on product packaging.
