Anemone Shrimp (Periclimenes brevicarpalis)

The Glass Anemone Shrimp is a breathtaking, nearly translucent crustacean highlighted by elegant white accents and vibrant spots across its tail fan. This highly specialized invertebrate lives in a strict symbiotic relationship with sea anemones or large-polyp stony corals, completely immune to their stinging cells. By utilizing the host for ironclad protection, the shrimp keeps its immediate area immaculate by eating trapped organic matter and mucus sloughed off by the coral, creating a stunning focal point in any reef system.
