Description
AMS Goldvine Wood (also known as Gold Vine Driftwood) is a highly prized, naturally grown hardscape material famous for its intricate, spidery branch structures and smooth, paper-like texture. Originating from naturally dried vine roots, this wood allows aquascapers to create dynamic, highly detailed layouts with dramatic heights, sweeping arches, and dense focal points that are difficult to achieve with chunkier hardwoods. When dry, Goldvine features a light golden hue, which deepens into a rich, warm mahogany tone once fully submerged in the aquarium. Highly versatile and completely inert, Goldvine releases virtually no tannins, ensuring your water remains crystal-clear without yellow discoloration or drastic pH shifts, making it an exceptional choice for nature aquariums, moss trees, and planted community displays.
Preparation & Placement Guide:
-
Soaking & Submersion: Due to its lightweight, dry nature, Goldvine is highly buoyant and typically takes 7 to 14 days to become fully waterlogged. It is recommended to weigh it down with rocks or secure it to heavy hardscape/slate using cyanoacrylate super glue or epoxy prior to filling the tank.
-
Cleaning: Simply rinse thoroughly under clean tap water to remove any loose dust from harvesting. Boiling is not required as the wood is extremely low in tannins.
-
Biofilm Formation: During the initial 2–3 weeks of submersion, a harmless white fungal biofilm may form on the fine branches. This is completely safe, temporary, and serves as an excellent natural food source for freshwater shrimp, snails, and bristlenose catfish.
