AMS Carbon Filter / Cartridge

Product overview

The AMS Carbon Cartridge is a 10-inch drop-in carbon filter for reverse osmosis (RO) and reverse osmosis deionisation (RODI) systems. It takes chlorine, chloramine, dissolved organics, and odour out of tap water before that water hits the RO membrane.

Chlorine damages RO membranes. This stage sits in the housing ahead of the membrane so the membrane lasts longer and the water going into storage is cleaner.

Key features

• Carbon: Granular activated carbon for chlorine, chloramine, organics, and some pesticides.
• Membrane: Strips oxidisers before they reach the RO membrane.
• Fit: Standard 10-inch housing. Check the gaskets sit square so water cannot bypass.
• Flush: Run to drain for at least 5 minutes on a new cartridge so carbon dust does not go into the membrane or DI resin.

Water and system compatibility

• Water: Treats municipal tap water. The purified water is used for freshwater tanks and for mixing marine salt.
• System: RO and RODI units with a standard 10-inch carbon housing. Not an aquarium hang-on or canister pad.

What's included

• One 10-inch granular activated carbon cartridge in a white polymer shell.

Directions

Turn off the feed. Open the carbon housing and swap the old cartridge. Seat the top and bottom gaskets. Flush the new cartridge for at least 5 minutes before you reconnect the line to the RO membrane or DI resin.

Replace every 4–6 months, or sooner if incoming tap chlorine is high.
