Product overview
LCA Triple C (formerly Triple B / Black Beard Blast) is made in Australia by Liverpool Creek Aquariums. It is a concentrated liquid used to help planted tanks fight stubborn black beard algae (BBA).
BBA often coats driftwood, equipment, and slow-growing plant leaves in a dark fuzz that standard treatments struggle with. Triple C supplies readily available liquid carbon, plus vitamin C and fulvic acids, to support plant growth so plants can outcompete algae for nutrients.
Suitable for freshwater aquariums.
Key benefits
-
Targets stubborn BBA: Helps stop and break down black beard algae, brush algae, and other persistent hair algae.
-
Liquid carbon: Provides a fast-acting carbon source to support plant growth and root development.
-
Plant health: Vitamin C and fulvic acid help support plant tissue, growth, and colour.
-
Algae control through plant growth: Strengthens plants so they can suppress algae, rather than relying on copper or harsh chemical treatments.
Dosing and instructions
Always double check dosing & directions on product packaging.
-
Dose: Add 6 ml per 50 litres (or 12 ml per 100 litres) of aquarium water.
-
Schedule: Dose every second day (for example Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).
-
Water changes: Do a 50% water change each week to reset parameters.
-
What to look for: BBA often turns orange, white, or light grey as it dies. Once that happens, scrub or siphon it out.
Important usage rules
-
Do not mix with other glutaraldehyde-based carbon products (such as Seachem Flourish Excel, CaribSea Carbon Plus, or LCA Complete). Combining them can harm livestock.
-
Oxygen: Turn off pressurised CO2 for several hours before and during dosing, and increase surface aeration to help keep oxygen levels safe.
-
Handling: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Store out of reach of children.
