The Indian Kole Tang, often referred to as the Indian Gold-Ring Tang, is a prized utility fish recognized for its deep brownish-maroon body, fine horizontal body striping, and bright yellow ring surrounding its eye. Extremely efficient at controlling algae growth, this species spends its entire day rasping film algae and organic detritus off aquarium rockwork and substrate. They require an established tank with plenty of mature live rock for grazing, along with open swimming areas. Their peaceful demeanor toward non-tang tankmates and relatively modest size make them a top choice for reef displays.
