The Atlantic Blue Tang is a dynamic species that undergoes a complete color transformation, reaching a Max Size of 38 cm. As juveniles, they are a solid, brilliant lemon-yellow. As they mature, they transition into a deep pastel blue-to-purple with fine horizontal lines and a yellow tail, eventually becoming fully blue as adults. They are high-energy swimmers that are found across the Caribbean and Atlantic reefs. They require a large amount of swimming space and a diet rich in a variety of marine-based algae. They can be quite territorial, especially toward other tangs, so they should be housed in a large system with plenty of rockwork.
