Product overview
The AMS Sediment Cartridge is a 10-inch spun polypropylene pre-filter for reverse osmosis (RO) and RODI systems. It is the first stage: sand, silt, rust, and scale are trapped here so they do not clog the carbon block or scratch the RO membrane.
The fibre is thermally bonded virgin polypropylene. Density is graded, so coarser dirt sits on the outside and finer grit toward the core. No binders or resins that can leach into the water.
Key features
-
Depth filter: Holds more dirt than a thin surface pad, with less pressure drop.
-
Membrane: Stops abrasive particles before the RO element.
-
Fit: Standard 10-inch drop-in housing.
-
Change: Every 3–6 months, or sooner if the incoming water is dirty or pressure falls.
Water and system compatibility
-
Water: Treats municipal tap water. Product water from the full RO/RODI train is used for freshwater tanks and marine salt mixing.
-
System: Stage 1 on RO and RODI units with a 10-inch housing. Not a hang-on aquarium pad.
Micron ratings
| Rating |
Use |
| 5 micron |
Finer silt, rust, and dust. Usual choice when tap water is already fairly clear. |
| 25 micron |
Coarser sand and heavy sediment. Use when the feed is very turbid and you need to protect flow. |

Directions
Turn off the feed and relieve pressure. Open the first-stage housing, swap the cartridge, and seat the gaskets square so water cannot bypass. Restore flow and check for leaks.
Always follow directions on product packaging.
