The Valentini Puffer, also known as the Saddled Toby, is one of the most popular small puffers due to its manageable size and striking "saddled" pattern. Its pearly white-to-grey body is marked by four distinct dark brown-to-black vertical saddles across the back, with small yellowish spots covering the lower half. The tail and fins often show a subtle yellow tint. These puffers are remarkably intelligent and can become quite tame, often following their owners along the glass. While they are peaceful toward most tankmates, they will readily consume small shrimp, crabs, and snails. They are best suited for a fish-only-with-live-rock (FOWLR) system or a reef tank where the owner is willing to accept some minor nipping at corals.
