How to attach
- Open the tub, slide out the moss, and rinse off any liquid under cool, clean water.
- Split it into thinner portions. Do not add it as a thick ball — the inside browns from lack of light.
- Spread the layers on hardscape and fix with a small smear of aquarium-safe superglue gel, or wrap with dark cotton moss thread. Rhizoids lock onto porous stone and driftwood over time.
Light and trimming
It grows in low-tech tanks. Moderate light keeps the compact, fan-shaped fronds. When it layers and gets bushy, trim the top tips flat with sharp scissors so new side shoots form and the bottom does not lift and float.
Flow
Keep steady circulation through the fronds so debris does not sit inside and trigger hair algae. Cooler water in the 18°C–26°C range helps stop yellowing.
