Product overview
Fritz BacterShield is a non-antibiotic slime-coat treatment. It lays a thin film on skin, fins, and tails so the oils in the formula stay in contact with the fish.
Use it after fighting, handling, or shipping, or in quarantine. It is used for early external problems such as fin rot, tail rot, mouth fungus, and popeye. It does not replace a full course of antibiotic if the infection is advanced.
Key features
- Film: A polymer coating holds the treatment on the fish instead of washing straight off.
- Oils: Cinnamon, geranium, pine, and rosemary oils, plus d-limonene and chitosan.
- Filter: Not an antibiotic. It does not target the nitrifying bacteria in your biofilter.
- When: New fish, after shipping, after a heavy trim, or at the first sign of external damage.
Water and system compatibility
- Water: Freshwater, brackish, and marine. Safe for plants and invertebrates when dosed as below. Sensitive corals may close up for a few hours; that usually settles within 24 hours.
- System: Display tanks and quarantine. Take out carbon and ion-exchange resins. UV can stay on. Turn down or off protein skimmers and strong airstones if they foam hard after dosing.
