Product overview
Tropical Green Algae Wafers are a high-fibre sinking food for bottom-dwelling fish and invertebrates. Many catfish and crustaceans have scraping mouths and need tough, plant-heavy food. Light flakes or pellets that fall apart quickly can leave them underfed and cloud the water.
The wafers include Spirulina platensis, kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum), and ketapang (Indian almond leaf) extract. They sink fast and take up water slowly without crumbling, so suckermouth fish can rasp them over a longer feed, similar to grazing on hard surfaces in the wild.
Key features
-
High-fibre vegetable blend: Plant matter to support digestion in bottom-feeders.
-
Holds together: Wafers keep their texture in water instead of turning to mush, so slower feeders and crustaceans can graze.
-
Immunity: Kelp and beta-glucan, plus iodine and trace minerals from the algae.
-
Natural grazing: Dense disks let plecos and other rasping fish use their mouths on the food.
-
Cleaner water: The formula does not break into floating debris, so it is less likely to foul the tank if it sits on the substrate for a while.
Water and system compatibility
-
Water: Freshwater and marine. Suitable for freshwater bottom-dwellers and marine herbivorous fish and crustaceans.
-
Species: Loricariid catfish (including bristlenose, plecos, Sturisoma, and Panaque), loaches, omnivorous bottom-feeders, shrimp, and crabs.
Feeding instructions
Always follow dosage & directions on product packaging.
-
Schedule: Drop several wafers into the tank daily, ideally just before or after lights out — many bottom-dwellers feed at night.
-
Community tanks: If surface feeders steal food, drop wafers down a clean feeding tube to the substrate so bottom fish can eat in peace.
