The Copperband Butterflyfish is one of the most iconic and visually stunning members of the reef community, instantly recognizable by its extremely elongated, needle-like snout. Its silvery-white body is adorned with four vertical, copper-orange bands edged in black, and it features a prominent "false eye" spot on the rear of the dorsal fin to confuse predators. In the aquarium, they are prized not only for their beauty but for their utility in controlling nuisance Aiptasia anemones. However, they are sensitive fish that require a peaceful environment and can be finicky eaters, often needing a variety of small meaty foods like frozen mysis or chopped clams to maintain their health.
