The Blue Green Chromis is a staple of the reef hobby, beloved for its shimmering, iridescent scales that shift between apple-green and sky-blue depending on the light. These are incredibly active and social fish that should always be kept in a group (odd numbers often work best) to encourage their natural schooling behavior. In the aquarium, they bring a sense of life and security to more timid fish by acting as "dither fish," signaling that it is safe to be out in the open. They are very hardy and spend their days darting in and out of the upper water column and coral branches, making them perfect for large reef displays.
