Product overview
The Aqua One Grounding Probe bleeds stray voltage out of aquarium water. Pumps, heaters, and lights leak a little electromagnetic energy into the tank. Over time that can stress fish and, in a fault, shock you.
Plug it into a socket on an RCD (safety switch / GFCI). If a heater or pump seal fails and live current hits the water, the probe gives the breaker a path so it should trip.
Key features
-
Stray voltage: Drains the background charge from everyday tank electronics.
-
RCD / GFCI: Helps the safety switch trip if a submerged unit leaks current into the water.
-
Titanium: Conductive, does not leach like some metals, and holds up in saltwater.
-
Cable: 4 m lead so it can reach a protected outlet from a deep cabinet or a multi-tank stand.
Where to install
| Location |
When to use it |
| Sump |
Preferred. Sit the probe in high flow, near return pumps and heaters. |
| Display tank |
Use the main water column if you have no sump. |
Care and instructions
Always follow dosage & directions on product packaging.
-
Mount: Submerge the titanium section in high flow (sump or display). Plug the earth lead into an RCD-protected outlet only.
-
Check: Once a month, look for scale or salt creep on the metal.
-
Clean: Wipe with fresh water or white vinegar to dissolve calcium and coralline so the metal stays in contact with the water.
