Product overview
Aquaforest Phosphate Minus is a filter media that binds phosphate (PO4) and silicate in freshwater and marine tanks. High phosphate feeds hair algae and cyanobacteria and can slow skeleton growth on stony corals.
Use it in a fluidised reactor or a bag in strong flow. It is made not to swing pH or strip the trace elements livestock need. Brown dust on first use is normal. Do not rinse it off; it is part of the media.
Key features
-
Phosphate and silicate: Holds them in the media so they are not left in the water.
-
Algae: Lower PO4 means less fuel for nuisance algae.
-
Reef: Suitable for fish, invertebrates, and corals when used as directed.
-
Use: Fluidised reactor or high-flow mesh bag. No rinse before adding.
Water and system compatibility
-
Water: Freshwater and marine, including reef tanks.
-
System: New tanks and established systems with a phosphate spike from heavy feeding. Test PO4 and adjust the media volume. Dropping phosphate too fast can stress corals.

Directions
Use 25–100 ml of media per 100 L, depending on how high phosphate is to start. Do not rinse. Brown dust is active media.
Always follow directions on product packaging.
