The Dispar Anthias, frequently referred to as the Madder Anthias, is a breathtaking shoaling fish that brings a soft, glowing palette to the reef aquarium. Its body is primarily a vibrant peach-to-orange hue, which transitions into a lighter, almost pearlescent underside. Males are particularly striking, possessing a brilliant red dorsal fin and a more intense coloration compared to the females. In the wild, they are found in massive schools on the upper edges of reef slopes where the current is strongest. Because they are high-energy swimmers with a high metabolism, they require multiple feedings per day of vitamin-enriched meaty foods. They are best kept in a social group consisting of one male and several females to mirror their natural social structure.
