Product overview
Tropical Tanganyika Sinking Chips are a meat-heavy daily food for predatory and omnivorous cichlids from Lake Tanganyika. These fish need marine proteins for energy, muscle, and general health. Generic cichlid foods can lack flavour and density, so fussy or wild-caught fish may refuse them.
The slowly sinking chips are about 70% marine ingredients, including shrimp (30%), krill (6%), and squid (6%), for an amino acid profile that even picky fish will often take.
Key features
-
70% marine formula: Shrimp meal, krill, and squid for digestible protein similar to a wild lakebed diet.
-
Accepted by fussy fish: Strong natural smell and flavour, including for wild-caught specimens.
-
Immunity: Spirulina, kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum), garlic, and stabilised vitamin C.
-
Condition: Fatty acids and natural pigments to support colour and sheen.
-
Slow sink: Chips drop through the mid-to-bottom water so rock-dwelling fish can feed in their own territory.
Water and system compatibility
-
Water: Freshwater aquariums only. Not for marine or reef tanks.
-
Species: Larger Lake Tanganyika cichlids in the genera Altolamprologus, Julidochromis, Lamprologus, Neolamprologus, and Lepidiolamprologus, plus young Cyphotilapia frontosa.
Feeding instructions
Always follow dosage & directions on product packaging.
-
Schedule: Feed several times a day in small portions they can finish in a few minutes.
-
Territory: These cichlids are territorial and cave-oriented. Scatter chips on more than one side of the tank at once so smaller or submissive fish can eat without being driven off.
